Cabinet Office Security Team
The Cabinet Office (CO) Security and Resilience (COSR) Team is the lead organisation for managing Security and Resilience within the Department. The remit covers providing advice, support and guidance to individuals and management units so as to manage a wide range of security-related threats and acting as the central focus for wider security policy issues affecting the entire department.
We are recruiting two Security Support Officers to assist one Cabinet Office Vetting and STRAP teams in London.
STRAP is a regime that regulates access to sensitive intelligence material which requires more protective handling than is afforded by the standard arrangements for government assets. The Security Team is responsible for all aspects of STRAP security and higher classification IT, in conjunction with our accreditors.
The Vetting Team work within the Cabinet Office Security Team and are responsible for overseeing the administration, assessment, delivery and decision making on all vetting casework for the Cabinet Office, No10 and Cabinet Office Arms Length Bodies. This dynamic team has established a reputation for excellence and high standards while delivering this critical function for the Cabinet Office.
No two days are ever the same in the vetting world and the successful applicant will have a great opportunity to develop their knowledge of Vetting, STRAP, insider risk and decision making. Working closely with the wider Security Team and Senior Security Advisor, the post holder will get the opportunity to build their knowledge and understanding of protective security principles.
Daily tasks will require assisting in the processing of applications and assisting with the mailbox. It also involves assisting with various work streams of varying priorities and delivering advice to a wide grade range of staff. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge of the security profession.

Help prepare and deliver informative briefings to staff members, including guidance for those traveling to different countries.
Support the team in gathering information when security incidents occur, helping to write clear reports about what happened and how we can prevent similar issues.
Work closely with other departments and partner organisations, responding to their questions and requests in a timely manner.
Learn to coordinate various security activities, from managing team inboxes to helping maintain important tracking systems that keep our operations running smoothly.
