As a Laboratory Technician, you can be part of the Aquatic and Terrestrial teams at our Shardlow site, in Derbyshire.
As part of this team you will:
1. Conduct all work in compliance with appropriate company standards and regulatory guidelines specified in the study plans, protocols, or work agreements governing the work in which they are involved.
2. The receipt, handling, visual inspection, and maintenance of test organism cultures in accordance with current SOPs (standard operating procedures) and animal welfare legislation.
3. Record, collate, and check all observational and scientific data as defined in the study plan and/or SOPs.
4. Maintain stocks/stores of consumable glassware and chemicals; providing an adequate supply of such items and ensuring that work is not delayed by a shortage of such items.
5. Maintain all scientific and engineering equipment, where appropriate, in a good standard of repair and record any such repairs or maintenance in accordance with current SOPs.
6. Develop competent laboratory skills to support duties in the primary area of work.
7. Set up and perform appropriate studies in the primary area of responsibility based on the study protocol and in conjunction with the study team.
8. Participate in study protocol reviews and in study meetings (i.e., pre-initiation meeting).
9. Maintain study documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
10. Review own work for overall accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment and deliver results within the agreed timeframe.
11. Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment and perform routine maintenance.
Education / Qualifications:
· Minimum GCSEs or equivalent including Maths, English, and Science.
Skills / Experience:
1. Team working skills.
2. Effective communication skills.
3. Ability to follow instructions with excellent attention to detail.
4. Previous laboratory support experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
