Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to gain advanced experience of working in Paediatric Intensive Care and develop the skills necessary to pursue a career in Paediatric intensive care or in an allied field. It is also suitable for candidates who are looking to complete training via CESR in PICM or completing High Dependency Care SPIN.
The Senior Fellow post will be spent on the Regional Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Alder Hey Hospital with an option to rotate to the Northwest & North Wales Paediatric Transport Service, NWTS (depending on candidate preference and available vacancies).
Successful candidates will provide clinical cover on a hybrid rota with the ACPs. Clinical duties will include shift work pattern on a unique rota with some academic days to pursue and participate in ongoing projects/audits that are happening on the unit. Trainees will also be allocated theatre days where they can attend theatre and practice/hone anaesthetic procedures. Teaching will be provided on a local and regional level.
Main duties of the job
This post offers a unique opportunity to work in an internationally recognised children's hospital and designated Major Trauma and HCID Centre. Successful candidates will gain broad experience in paediatric intensive care including cardiac and respiratory ECMO, and paediatric transport medicine, and is relevant to all acute specialties. The posts are for 6-24 months (maximum) and suitable for candidates with demonstrable experience in general paediatrics and neonatal intensive care. Candidates should also have at least 6 months paediatric intensive care experience. Candidates with extensive experience in anaesthetics or emergency medicine are invited to apply as well.

* 6 months minimum Paediatric Intensive Care experience.
* Experience of clinical audit i.e. participation.
* Experience of teaching medical and other staff.
* Research Awareness.
* Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients, their parents and other relatives and with colleagues of all disciplines.
* Demonstrates ability to work flexibly when necessary.
* Ability to work as a team with professional colleagues both medical and other disciplines.
* Satisfactory medical clearance from the Trust's Occupational Health Physician.
* Free from disabilities or illness that would prevent clinical management of patients.
