Job Advertisement: Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEN Support) Location: Isle of Portland, Dorset Position: Full-Time, Temporary Start Date: After Easter 2025 Duration: Until the end of the school year We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting SEN (Special Educational Needs) pupils on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time, temporary role based on the beautiful Isle of Portland, with an immediate start after Easter until the end of the current school year. Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored 1:1 support to primary school pupils with various special educational needs. Assist with lesson delivery, helping pupils engage in classroom activities. Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to the development of personalised learning strategies. Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students. Work closely with the class teacher and other educational staff to monitor progress and adapt support as necessary. About You: Experience working 1:1 with SEN pupils in a primary school setting. Strong understanding of various special educational needs and how to support children with these needs effectively. Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children’s development. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members. A proactive and flexible approach to supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. Essential Requirements: Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role, ideally with 1:1 SEN support. A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEN (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification). An enhanced DBS check (we can assist with this if needed).
