Senior Pharmacy Technician - Primary Care & Community Services
The Senior Pharmacy Technician plays a key role in managing, supervising, and developing pharmacy and medicines management staff in primary care and community services in East IHC. The role involves leading projects to improve pharmacy services, ensuring alignment with professional and corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Management & Leadership: Supervise pharmacy teams, lead service improvement projects, and assist in workforce planning, recruitment, and staff development.
* Governance & Compliance: Develop, implement, and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conduct risk assessments, and manage complaints/incidents.
* Service Delivery: Oversee pharmacy and medicines management services, ensure compliance with professional standards, and support senior managers in service execution.
* Training & Development: Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for pharmacy staff.
* Financial & Information Management: Ensure procurement and maintenance of equipment, manage information systems, and support data-driven decision-making.
* Collaborate with the Senior Management Team in primary care to develop and implement workstreams that improve service delivery.
* Work closely with the wider pharmacy team to enhance teamwork and drive service development.
Main duties of the job
* Supervision & Leadership: Manage and develop pharmacy and medicines management staff, ensuring service delivery and professional standards.
* Service Improvement: Lead and support projects that enhance pharmacy services, implement strategies for modernisation, and contribute to policy development.
* Governance & Risk Management: Develop, implement, and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conduct risk assessments, and manage complaints/incidents.
* Workforce & Performance Management: Line manage staff, oversee appraisals and training, and ensure workforce planning aligns with service needs.
* Training & Mentorship: Provide training for pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals, develop competency frameworks, and support professional development.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Experience
* A substantial level of post qualification experience in pharmacy services.
* Experience of managing pharmacy team(s)
* Experience in a broad range of pharmacy services.
Qualifications and/or Knowledge
* Registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* NVQ level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills or equivalent.
Aptitude and Abilities
* Organised
* Patient counselling skills.
* Good verbal and written communication.
* Teaching, training and mentoring skills.
* Able to prioritise and delegate
* Experience of interviewing.
Knowledge
* Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy services
* Knowledge of budget control
