Job summary
We are looking for an empathetic, professional and knowledgeable individual to join our Medical Examiner office. You will work collaboratively to drive improvements across our service including death certifications and referrals to the Coroner's office. You will provide advice to the bereaved and other users of the service; Health Care Professionals involved in the patient's care; HM Coroner's Office; Registrars; Bereavement office/advisors. This is a vital role, where you have the ability to shape the future of the service and improve the experience we give the friends and families of those who have passed away. Main duties of the job
1. To maintain clear and effective channels for communicating and co-operating with all departments, wards and relevant professionals.
2. To act as an intermediary between the bereaved and clinicians to establish and escalate any concerns relating to a patient's death.
3. To establish the circumstances of individual patient deaths.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good Standard of general education to A-level or equivalent.
* Completed E-Learning for Health MEO Training - Core Modules.
* Completion of the Royal College of Pathologists face to face MEO training.
Experience
* Experience of working in a clinical or bereavement setting.
* Experience of working with people in sensitive and emotional situations - evidenced in work history or supporting information.
* Knowledge of clinical terminology or previous role/experience which uses clinical terminology skills - evidenced in work history or supporting information.
* Competence with IT software systems (experience with maintaining records).
* Experience of working as a Medical Examiner Officer.
