Job Overview
This role is for a Band 3 Physiotherapy Senior Support Worker 0.8 WTE (30 hours per week) based at the Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation Unit (SNRU) at the Leicester General Hospital. This clinical area focuses on treating patients with highly complex neurological rehabilitation needs within a busy multi-disciplinary unit.
The role includes weekend and bank holiday working across the SNRU and Specialist Brain Injury Unit at the Leicester General Hospital with a rostered day back during the week.
This post requires a high level of personal responsibility, and therefore we are looking for a person with a mature outlook, good communication skills, organisational skills, and an ability to use their initiative. The post holder will need to be motivated, organised, and able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. They will need to have experience of working with a variety of different people.
You will be expected, when competent, to hold your own caseload of patients, prioritising, completing assessments, and devising treatment plans for Physiotherapy interventions. You will work alongside qualified Physiotherapists to carry out this treatment and discharge plan.
Main Duties of the Job
* Work within the multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of patient care within the service under the direction and supervision of an appropriate Registered Health Care Professional.
* Assist with basic administration duties.
* Responsible for safe use of equipment relevant to service.
* Ensure safe and effective use of equipment by service users, carers, and family members, including fitting demonstration and teaching of safe and appropriate use.
* Keep complete, clear, accurate, and timely records, utilising digital platforms as required.
* Communicate effectively through a variety of methods including the use of interpersonal, written, verbal, and non-verbal skills.
* Report any incidents, accidents, or complaints in a timely manner, taking appropriate action as necessary.
* Support the induction of new team members. Participate in training and support of less experienced support staff and students (including apprentices) in respect of tasks and responsibilities within scope of practice.
* Actively participate in learning opportunities to maintain knowledge and inform practice. Actively seek feedback.

Training and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
* Educated to a level 3 qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience, or willingness to obtain in 1 year.
* Maths and English Functional Skills Level 2.
Desirable Criteria
* National Care Certificate.
Experience

* Experience in health and/or social care settings such as employment, work experience, or volunteering placements.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of clerical/administrative work and computer skills.
