Job Title: Senior Warehouse Operative
Location: Wymondham, Norfolk
Salary: £27,535 including 15% shift allowance
We are recruiting for a Senior Warehouse Operator to join our client based in Wymondham, Norfolk.
The site specialises in production of outbound and inbound document services. The site contains printing, mailing and warehousing capability for the purposes of outbound mail and postal and electronic receipt, capture, validation, and document storage for the purposes of inbound mail. In addition, Production Services, Finance, and IT functions reside on the site. Both Inbound and Outbound operations provide services for multiple customers.
The Senior Operator is responsible for the performance of their immediate team and
area in terms of quality, throughput, and SLA delivery. This is a supervisory role with
responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the team and its members. This
includes setting a positive tone and generating an open, trusting work environment.
This role also includes - conducting performance reviews, managing holiday and
sickness absence and overseeing health & safety within the team is all part of the role.
Main Duties:
• Participate in warehouse operations which is able to fulfil operational and customer demand and meet set targets
• Ensure the delivery of materials to production lines in accordance with production schedules
• Support in training new Warehouse operatives within area of responsibility
• Ensure stock movements are recorded accurately
• Support organising and participate in stock takes at regular intervals
• Identify any improvements and make recommendations for change
• Where possible resolve any issues or problems which occur with operational hours. Where appropriate elevate the issue to a more senior level
• Produce regular reports and statistics as and when required
• Ensure that health and safety meet the required standards
• Ensure that all lifting and manoeuvring of products and materials is carried out in accordance with manual handling procedures
• Ensure waste materials are stored in accordance with requirements
• Maintain high standards of security in the warehouse
• Ensure staff comply to health, safely and environmental regulations and work safely to protect themselves and others in the warehouse environment
• Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to aid operational efficiency
Skills/Experience:
• An appropriate warehousing qualification would be advantageous
• A supervisory qualification would also be beneficial
• Proven experience as a supervisor with experience of managing and motivating a team
• A good working knowledge of health and safety and security requirements
• Knowledge and understanding of lean techniques may be advantageous
• Forklift Truck licence required
• Commitment to work towards professional accreditation with an industry related body
The role works on an annualised hour shift pattern. The number of hours you work in a one-year period will average out at 35hrs per week. There will be a requirement to work more than 11 shifts in any two-week period. You will be given a new plan every six months that will outline what shifts you will be required to work during that period.
HOURS: Swing Shift Pattern rotating - Week 1 Mon-Fri 07:00-15:00 and Week 2 15:00-23:00. This includes 2 x 30 minutes break daily. (Weekend availability)
