Deputy Manager Children's Home
Salary: Up to £40,000
Overtime paid at hourly rate
Sleep-in paid at £50.00
Location: Kent, Herne Bay
Hours: 37.5 to 40 hours per week
Must show flexibility with working hours: Day shifts, night shifts, and some weekends.
We would consider candidates ready to move up from Team Leader / Senior roles.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Deputy Manager who has the ability to build and maintain rapport with clients while providing an exceptional level of service. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining supervision and care of children and will be responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day functions within the home. You must have experience in working in a Residential Children's Home setting / Supported accommodation setting.
Working as a Children's Home Deputy Manager, you must be willing to go above and beyond for the children and young people, ensuring that they have an experience of childhood that they can reflect upon and carry with them into adulthood.
Responsibilities
1. Assist the Registered Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose.
2. Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
3. Support and manage the staff to meet the needs of the children and young people.
4. Undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate.
5. Manage child protection concerns and complaints.
6. Work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people.
7. Offer supervision and support to other staff in line with Quality Standards.
Candidates will have:
1. 1-2 years of experience in management with young people in a residential setting.
2. Experience working within EBD (Emotional Behaviour Disorder) setting.
3. A supportive nature towards the young people and staff.
4. An uncompromising stance against poor practices.
5. Organised and able to manage a team.
6. Creative skills.
7. Counselling / Training skills.
8. Recruitment experience.
9. Secondary education with a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
10. Diploma L3 Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
11. Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care.
Knowledge & Skills
1. Knowledge of CHR 2015 and the QS.
2. Awareness of Equal Opportunities/ADP issues.
3. Knowledge of the Children Act and other relevant legislation.
4. Team-building and supervision skills.
5. Ability to manage teams effectively.
6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
7. Understanding the needs of looked-after children, including managing challenging behaviour.
8. Excellent organisational skills.
9. Ability to motivate and enthuse staff.
General Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Registered Manager in the implementation of all aspects of the Statement of Purpose.
2. Contribute to the devising, implementing, and evaluation of changes to continually improve services, systems, and standards.
3. Drive company vehicles – subject to policies and procedures.
4. Work on a rota basis according to the needs of young people.
5. Ensure resources are allocated appropriately, and financial records are accurately maintained.
6. Receive supervision in line with the Quality Standards and take responsibility for personal development.
7. Carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by the Registered Manager.
