Our client is now looking for a Workshop Manager with 5 - 10 years of joinery or event build experience.
Job Overview
1. Managing the Workshop production staff, including CNC operations, joinery, sprayshop, print, creative team, and packing.
2. Production planning - Production should be planned at least two weeks in advance, and staff working hours should be factored in and communicated to staff in a timely manner. Staff scheduling should include proposed overtime hours during weekdays and weekends.
3. Arranging freelance crew if project schedule requires additional support.
4. Implementing Clarity scheduling system and ensuring all staff are updating their hours correctly.
5. Direct communications with the Technical drawing team, Project managers, Installation managers, and Senior Management.
6. Involved in project briefings to ensure full understanding of upcoming projects, discussing and suggesting how projects should be drawn/built and presenting material choices.
7. Providing a full briefing to the production team. Daily and weekly meetings with the production team to brief in projects and set project targets will be required. The production team must have a full understanding of what is expected of them.
8. Attending installations as needed to ensure the project is installed to the highest standard.
9. Ensuring the Installation team is fully briefed on the project, with detailed sketches and installation pics/videos to illustrate the build. Agreeing with the Installation manager on a schedule of goods, how units are to be arranged/sent to site, ensuring all the correct kit is supplied and agreeing on members of workshop staff joining the install team.
10. Staff Management and training, including keeping morale high at all times. Providing or organizing training to staff members and keeping this well documented.
11. Overseeing the Quality Control of products throughout each stage of production. QC of goods is vital to meet the high demands of our clients. All work must be QC'd and signed off before it can be passed on to Dispatch.
12. Ordering materials and organizing stock control. Correct materials must be ordered to specification and fit for purpose. Stock levels of material must be managed and readily available.
13. Forming part of a H&S team to ensure staff are working safely and that all builds going to site are checked for safety.
14. Maintaining immaculate housekeeping of the factory at all times.
Skills
1. The candidate must have experience in Retail Display manufacture/installations or events and should have at least 10 years of experience working in a joinery workshop.
2. Experience in working/knowledge within each Department (technical, CNC, Bench, Sprayshop) is advantageous.
3. Experience using Project Management tools/scheduling tools is a must.
4. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate with Senior management and factory staff.
5. The candidate must be able to promote a positive attitude amongst the team and motivate the team, especially during periods of high volume of work.
6. Must be able to problem-solve due to the bespoke nature of the work we produce.
7. Willingness to use and learn a variety of materials and production methods to achieve the creative aspect of the job.
8. The candidate must be very organized and able to precisely plan a work schedule with the tightest deadlines.
