Role & Client Overview:

Their work in prison education is designed to help learners gain functional skills in Maths and English, preparing them for employment, further learning, and personal growth.
As a Prison Functional Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering Maths & English up to Level 2, ensuring that learners gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver Functional Skills Maths & English up to Level 2 in a prison-based setting.
2. Engage and motivate learners through innovative teaching methods.
3. Develop individual learning plans to support learner progression and aspirations.
4. Provide advice and guidance, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
5. Monitor learner progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse needs.
6. Maintain a positive learning environment, supporting behaviour management strategies.
Essential/Desirable Criteria:
Essential:
1. Level 3 qualification in Maths & English (or equivalent).
2. Substantial experience in your field, demonstrating subject expertise.
3. Experience delivering training, ideally within a classroom or learning environment.
4. Ability to engage learners using a range of training methods.
5. Excellent communication and motivational skills.
Desirable:
1. Teaching or Assessing qualification (e.g., PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, AET, CET, DET, QTLS).
2. Experience working in a custodial or community setting.
3. Understanding of diverse learner needs and behavioural support strategies.
