Main Duties of the Job
Success in this role will see you taking part in a 7-day rota where you will utilise your broad experience of Gastroenterology, and be clinically responsible for outpatient and endoscopy lists, inpatient care and GI bleeding. A subspeciality interest will be encouraged and supported.
1. To contribute and complement the clinical delivery and development of a specialist service provision.
2. All aspects of GI disease complexity are welcome and can cover nutrition services, hepatology, IBD, and bowel cancer screening.
3. To manage an average of 2-3 endoscopy sessions and an average of 2-3 outpatient clinics per week depending on specialist interests and job planning.
4. To participate in the acute gastroenterology ward rota.
5. To participate in the management of inpatient gastroenterology services.
6. To participate in the emergency GI Bleed service.
7. To provide specialist advice to colleagues.
8. To work to directorate agreed management guidelines.

Job Description Responsibilities
The post holders will be responsible, together with other members of the department, for the provision of a high-quality gastroenterology service to complement the existing sub-specialisation within the department. The final job plan would be agreed on appointment; however, the successful candidate would be expected to undertake a mix of general gastroenterology, endoscopy, GI Bleed on call, and ward cover. Development of a sub-speciality interest is encouraged. Depending on the needs of the department, the job plan could have elements of flexible working or annualised sessions.
