What are we looking for in this position?
* Support the Quality Engineer in designing experiments to investigate reported quality issues short-selected for intervention, as required.
* Design and prototype test beds, jigs and/or fixtures to conduct the experiments. Use appropriate instrumentation for gathering test data.
* Support the Quality Engineer in running the agreed investigations, analysing results and establishing sound conclusions, as required.
* Invent and propose innovative solutions to address root causes identified in the above investigations.
* Produce prototypes of the solutions. Test their effectiveness in addressing the issues identified and iterate until a satisfactory solution has been established.
* Implement the agreed changes in the design CAD files, either themselves or collaborating with external design partners if required.
* Ensure adequate traceability of the changes in the CAD file registers.
* Support the Quality Engineer with documentation of the changes, as required.
* Maintain CAD files on the company’s Product Data Management (PDM) system for all live and legacy products.
* Maintain and oversee a small workshop, ensuring tools and equipment are available and properly maintained.
* Liaise with third-party suppliers for prototyping materials and services.

* Ability to work in, and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
* Must have Formal training in Mechanical / Design Engineering and/or a level of demonstrable experience tackling mechanical design issues on products.
* Proficiency in SolidWorks.
* Experience with 3D printing tools and techniques.
* Good understanding of the injection moulding process, as well as associated DFMA best practices.
* Experience working with the V-model development framework.
* Experience of project managing product development from concept to end.
