A Day in the Life of an Electromechanical Technician
In this role, you’ll play a critical part in keeping production operations running efficiently. You'll diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, and automated systems used in food manufacturing and packaging processes. Your hands-on expertise ensures maximum uptime, equipment reliability, and compliance with food safety standards—helping deliver top-quality deli meats and other products to the market.
Responsibilities include:
* Prioritizing safety in all tasks while adhering to OSHA, HACCP, GMP, SQF, and other food safety and manufacturing standards
* Troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems (120V to 480V), mechanical components, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systems
* Performing preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime
* Diagnosing issues with PLCs and industrial automation systems
* Reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation
* Assisting with equipment installations, system upgrades, and process improvements
* Collaborating with production and quality assurance teams to optimize operations
* Accurately documenting maintenance activities and keeping service records up to date
* Promoting a clean, organized, and safe work environment for yourself and your team
Requirements and Qualifications:
* Minimum 5+ years of experience in electromechanical maintenance, preferably in the food processing industry
* Proficiency in industrial electrical components (120V to 480V), mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and automation systems
* Familiarity with food industry regulations and OSHA safety standards
* Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying environments (hot, cold, wet conditions)
* GED or High School Diploma required
* Certifications in Electromechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field are preferred
