Purpose of the role
Colas Ltd. have a great opportunity for a Traffic Signals Supervisor to be part of the Area 9 Maintenance & Response contract with Colas, working on behalf of National Highways. Who will deliver both Cyclical and Reactive works they are assigned and will be responsible for safeguarding the welfare and health and safety of themselves and those working around them. They will take an active role in ensuring their own skills and knowledge are up to date and fit for purpose.
Main Responsibilities
As a Traffic Signals Supervisor you will be responsible for delivering traffic signal cyclical works and response over the course of your shift, carrying out cyclic maintenance in line with the Client, manufacturer and British Standards. Your day to day will include: Undertaking electronic diagnostic checks on highways communications assets in line with reactive maintenance, preparation of reports and documents as necessary, assisting with project administration and control and coordinate with third parties with the introduction of new Highways communications infrastructure. You will report directly to the Technology Manager on activities undertaken during shifts you work, health and safety and progress during shifts you are working on. You will be responsible for Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities. Perform other duties as may be reasonably required. You will be expected to work 40 hrs per week Monday - Friday.
Ideal Candidate
The idea candidate will have a relevant qualification in an electrical or engineering discipline. It is essential you have experience working in Highways and have knowledge and application of current, standards and best practice relating to national Highways Motorway and trunk road traffic signal systems. A HERS qualification is desirable, not essential. 18th Edition wiring regulations is essential. You must have a valid UK driving licence.
You will have the ability to learn and keep up to date with changes in highways traffic signals standards and required statutory legislation. Adopt a forward-thinking approach by identifying potential innovative techniques and products for the delivery of technology maintenance. Highlight these to management. You will have excellent planning and organisational skills and be able to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.
