About the Role
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant (TA) in Scunthorpe, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support, helping students to improve their social, communication, and academic skills. Your responsibilities will also include preparing lesson materials, supporting classroom activities, and offering feedback on student progress.
Key Responsibilities of Special Needs Teaching Assistant
* Collaborate with teachers: Create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each student. Regularly review and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
* Individual and small group interventions: Help students improve their social, communication, and academic skills using evidence-based strategies.
* Teach and reinforce effective study techniques: Help students understand and engage with their studies. Encourage positive interactions and model appropriate behavior.
* Support classroom teachers: Implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Address learning challenges and foster a culture of respect and cooperation.
* Maintain detailed records: Track students’ progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each student’s development.
* Collaborate with professionals: Ensure comprehensive support by working with counselors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of students and their families.
Requirements of Special Needs Teaching Assistant
* Previous experience: Experience as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
* SEN Experience: Experience within SEN.
* Passion for support: A genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
* Team player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
