The finance team drives success by managing accounts payable, bookkeeping, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management. They ensure compliance through regulatory reporting and audits while maintaining financial integrity and shaping Mako's strategic financial future.
The Assistant Accountant role is an entry-level position designed to support the finance team across key functions. The successful candidate will assist with accounts payable tasks, including managing banks, expenses, credit cards, and supplier accounts. They will also support bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, and treasury-related tasks.
The Accounts Assistant will work closely with senior accountants and other team members to ensure accurate financial records, effective expense management, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role offers exposure to various aspects of finance and an opportunity to develop technical and interpersonal skills in a collaborative environment.
What you'll be involved in:
* Managing bank transactions, expense claims, credit cards, and supplier invoices
* Preparing and posting journals and assisting with reconciliations
* Supporting month-end and year-end reporting processes
* Maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with audits
* Communicating with internal teams and suppliers to resolve queries
What we need from you:
* A consultative and inclusive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial records
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with teams and suppliers
* Demonstrated ambition to learn and succeed, with a proactive and team-oriented mindset
* A related degree in finance, accounting, or business (desirable) and some prior experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or a similar role
