The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases, ensuring the highest standards of patient care. What will your responsibilities be : The Band 6 Locum Microbiology Biomedical Scientist will be responsible for performing a wide range of microbiological tests and procedures, including the identification and analysis of pathogens. Duties include processing clinical specimens, interpreting results, and maintaining accurate records. The role involves working closely with medical and laboratory staff to provide timely and effective diagnostic services. Ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and quality standards is essential, as is participating in ongoing professional development and training. Conducting antimicrobial susceptibility testing and reporting findings, implementing and monitoring infection control measures within the laboratory, assisting in the development and validation of new diagnostic tests and procedures, providing expert advice and support to healthcare professionals regarding microbiological issues, participating in laboratory audits and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, managing laboratory inventory and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies and reagents, and training and mentoring junior staff and students in microbiological techniques. Qualifications and Experiences: HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or equivalent Significant experience in a microbiology laboratory setting Proficiency in microbiological techniques and procedures Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Commitment to maintaining high standards of laboratory practice and patient care How to apply?
