Job responsibilities The successful candidates will undertake a 12-month training course at the University of Reading. During this time, you will be trained to provide High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural therapy within a stepped care model for adults with common mental health problems, including depression and a range of anxiety disorders. You will be required to attend training at the University two days a week and working with a caseload of patients within service three days a week. Accept referrals via protocols Assess patients for suitability for CBT. Where the problems appear to be too complex/severe for trainee therapists to refer to manager/supervisor for advice & refer/signpost as directed Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the service/referral protocols, & refer unsuitable patients onto the relevant service or back to the referrer Formulate/implement/evaluate therapy programmes for patients Educate/involve family members/others in treatment, conveying formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language Adhere to agreed activity contract relating to the number of patient contacts offered/clinical sessions carried out in order to minimise wait times/ensure treatment delivery remains accessible/convenient Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals/patients in treatment Complete all requirements relating to data collection Keep coherent/timely records of all clinical activity in line with protocols Work closely with team members ensuring appropriate step-up/stepdown arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach Assess/integrate issues surrounding work/employment into the overall therapy process Maintain clinical record/complete clinical measures/patient outcome/patient satisfaction measures in line with policy Deal with frequent highly distressing/emotional circumstances & psychological content including complex trauma &/or abuse, challenging behaviours/longstanding mental health difficulties Further information about the Trust and this role can be found on the Job Description and Person Specification document attached.
