Duties
* Serves as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist/Manager on a Contract Safety Team in the Contract Safety Group, Safety Center, Technical Directorate, and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
* Serves as a Contract Safety Manager (CSM) expert identifying risk to prevent injuries to government employees, damage to government property, and productivity losses.
* Serves as the technical authority and consultant on matters of ammunition and explosives safety, aircraft ground safety, industrial safety and fire prevention.
* Plans, develops, and implements an annual Contract Safety Program to ensure compliance with safety contractual requirements and to mitigate risk.
* Evaluates conditions of current and future defense contractors, defense service providers, and producers of defense weapon systems, equipment, components, or spare parts.
* Provides highest level of functional, technical, and professional Contract Safety support to various federal, state, local officials, and contractors, as well as internal support to the Contract Safety teams and supervisor.
* Participates in meetings, conducts briefings, and coordinates amongst various levels of management within DCMA and other government agencies in regards to Contract Safety.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Safety and Occupational Health Manager, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.
Creditable specialized experience includes:
* Applying a broad knowledge of contract administration and safety and occupational health laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to review and advise on contract packages for safety clauses, and to mitigate risk in support of accident or incident prevention.
* Conducting safety studies to evaluate a contractor's safety programs and their ability to meet contractual safety requirements.
* Performing safety inspections derived from contract requirements.
* Formulating and implementing effective procedures to prevent, reduce, or eliminate a hazardous environment with both contractor processes and products.
