Dates:
Immediate start (December onwards) for an initial period of 6 months. This role is critical to ensuring continuity during year-end and the annual audit process.

Meridian Business Support is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to support our client’s team based in Huntingdon. This important role focuses on ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet, including payroll, payments, receivables, and SBS transactions. Key responsibilities include overseeing monthly financial close, board reporting, and year-end accounts.

Job Duties:
- Resolve payroll issues.
- Complete the charity review currently being conducted by Trust auditors (Azets).
- Provide daily oversight of outsourced Operational Financial Services, including supplier payments, transactional procurement, payroll, and treasury management.
- Ensure compliance with producing various statutory returns, such as month/year-end accounts, charity accounting, and VAT returns.
- Support Trust-wide financial planning for balance sheet and cash flow management.
- Maintain the integrity of the Trust financial reporting system for accurate financial positioning.
- Oversee debt collection, including recovery of salary overpayments.
- Deliver budget holder training for financial management in cash management, debtors, and capital expenditure.
- Perform financial reconciliations and provide finance-related advice, including technical matters such as VAT, capital, and lease accounting.
To be successful in the role of Financial Accountant, candidates should meet the following criteria:
Qualifications:
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of financial accounting principles, processes, and statutory reporting requirements.
Experience:
- Proven experience in financial accounting within a complex organisation, ideally in the public or healthcare sector.
- Familiarity with balance sheet reconciliations, payroll, payments, and receivables processes.
- Experience in preparing month-end and year-end financial accounts.
- Previous involvement in audit processes and statutory submissions.
- Knowledge of public sector accounting is desirable but not essential.
Skills:
- Strong analytic skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies.
- Proficient in financial systems and tools, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Detail-oriented and organised, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
