Your Role as an Electrician
Working within a prison means that your work directly contributes to the safety and operational efficiency of the facility. A key aspect of the role is ensuring compliance with safety codes and regulations. You will be expected to keep accurate records of maintenance and complete any administrative actions in a timely manner. You should use your initiative to make decisions based on manufacturers' documents, such as schematics and operational instructions.

Your primary responsibilities include the installation, testing, examination, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment within the prison. You will also be required to carry out a wide range of other duties. HMP Northumberland is large and varied, with buildings of various ages and uses, including residential house blocks, kitchens, classrooms, workshops, offices, and security equipment. This means that no day ever looks the same, and you will be regularly engaged with new and exciting challenges.
The Ideal Candidate
* Successful completion of a recognised electrician qualification.
* Successful completion of an electrician apprenticeship or equivalent experience working as an electrician.
* Understanding of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
* Ability to collaborate within a team or as an individual where required.
* Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving work environment.
* Problem-solving capabilities to address challenges and obstacles effectively.
* Able to handle pressure while maintaining a positive outlook.
