Cardiff benefits from being the Capital city of Wales, offering Social Workers the opportunity to work with a highly diverse population with a variety of care and support needs. As the largest Local Authority in Wales, we support nearly 5000 individuals to live well, offering them a person-centred support structure to ensure they can meet their own needs and outcomes.
The Learning Disabilities teams provide social work advice, information, and support services to adults with Learning Disabilities and their carers, working closely with wider multi-disciplinary teams to support ongoing complex needs. Our strength-based approach ensures that we focus on supporting people to access local activities and integrate into their communities. We have two social work teams who offer information, support and assistance to people and their carers. There are opportunities for our staff to work with people with a wide spectrum of needs and specialise in an area of interest if they wish, such as transitions or dual diagnosis.
We also have a Day Opportunities team for those individuals who have highly complex behavioural or health needs. The service is community based and focused on developing skills and ensuring least restrictive practice. We also offer 112 local supported housing schemes to support people to live independently whilst remaining local and living near family and friends.

2. A strong value base and willingness to actively work with a strength based social work at the heart of your practice

4. A willingness to learn and develop assessment skills and a clear understanding of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014
5. A commitment to developing confidence and knowledge in operating within the Mental Capacity Act legal framework. We will help you to gain experience of Court of Protection work and process
6. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of citizens is an expectation of all who work in the service area
