Summit is a leading digital marketing agency who specialise in online retailing, and we have an exciting opportunity for a Product Owner to join us on a hybrid basis (2 days in our fantastic office) located near the beautiful Fruit Market and Marina area of Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire.
We offer flexible start and finish times as well as having every other Friday off*. We trust our people to work flexibly around their lifestyle and family arrangements. Summiteers are asked to attend our office in the C4DI complex in Hull, Fruit Market 2 days per week, the rest of the week can be done from home. For the right candidate, we may also consider greater flexibility around office time.
As the Product Owner at Summit, you will be responsible for driving the development and success of our suite of proprietary marketing and technology tools (Productcaster and across the wider business). You will be responsible for understanding the market needs and defining product vision. This is a strategic, hands-on role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands the intersection of business, technology, and marketing, and is confident working with experienced technical stakeholders in cross-functional delivery environments. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our platform and internal tooling, providing clarity and direction on product priorities to ensure delivery stays aligned with business impact.
About the Role:
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
1. Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy that aligns with business goals, user needs and long-term platform value.
2. Define and own the product roadmap, ensuring all work is prioritised based on value, commercial impact and strategic fit.
3. Confidently manage and influence senior stakeholders, including technical leads. Drive alignment across commercial, tech and delivery teams without defaulting to consensus.
4. Own and evolve our suite of proprietary tools with a platform mindset, balancing feature development with long-term scalability and performance.
5. Translate ideas into clear, testable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
6. Lead coordination of product releases, managing timelines, business impact and communication across internal and external stakeholders.
7. Ensure product decisions contribute to commercial outcomes, working closely with marketing, strategy and client-facing teams to identify revenue-driving opportunities.
8. Monitor product performance and user feedback, using data to iterate and improve continuously.
9. Stay on top of emerging tech and competitive trends to help inform product direction and opportunities.
About You
As our Product Owner, you will have extensive experience working with product feeds for retail clients, analysing performance and making strategic recommendations.
Key skills and knowledge include:
1. Experience as a Product Owner or similar role within Agile software development environments.
2. Proven track record of leading product strategy and prioritisation in cross-functional teams.
3. Confident making prioritisation decisions independently, with a clear rationale.
4. Strong business knowledge and experience implementing strategic initiatives to drive forward product development.
5. Adept at translating technical conversations into commercial language and vice versa.
6. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, evaluate performance metrics and make data-driven decisions.
7. Highly organised with a pragmatic, sleeves-rolled-up approach.
8. Plans own and team work effectively and can set priorities and manage resources.
9. Experience with Agile methodologies.
10. Familiar with project management tools.
11. A great presenter of ideas, sharing them in a clear and confident manner to internal and external clients and colleagues.
12. Strong working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
