Job Title: Social Worker – CIN/Duty and Assessment
Location: Halton
Rate: £45.00 per hour
What will your responsibilities be?
Within the framework of legislation, agreed policies, and procedures, you will work with or on behalf of individuals and families to assist them in resolving their personal problems and adjusting to or changing their social environment to improve their quality of life. The Council and its schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults, and expect all staff, workers, and volunteers to share this commitment. You will manage an allocated social work caseload, undertake assessments in accordance with legislation, policies, and procedures, and determine an appropriate level of intervention and service provision. You will negotiate, coordinate, and provide and/or commission services as appropriate, ensuring the needs and wishes of children are fully addressed in the assessment and planning process. You will share responsibility for planned intervention and service provision with partners, comply with administrative and financial procedures, and maintain appropriate and up-to-date records. You will liaise with your designated line manager, comply with service requirements regarding supervision, undertake continuous professional development, and attend formal training. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of social work students and undertake any other duties as assigned.

Education/Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, you must have a Social Work Qualification (e.g., DipSW/CQSW/CSS or equivalent) and registration as a qualified social worker with HCPC. Relevant post-qualifying training and/or qualifications are desirable. You should have pre or post-qualification experience in safeguarding within a social care setting, preferably within a Local Authority, Children’s Services. Knowledge of childcare legislation, guidance, and procedures, as well as an understanding of the significant issues relating to children in need, children in care, and care leavers, is essential. You should also have knowledge of child and adolescent development, a clear understanding of safeguarding children’s requirements, and a good understanding of accountability and the importance of multi-disciplinary working and an integrated approach to service delivery. Additionally, you should be motivated to work with children, young people, and vulnerable adults, able to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries, and possess emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and managing complex cases. Effective communication skills, good written and verbal skills, report writing skills, the ability to assess risk and create, implement, and review plans to address risk, the ability to work as a team member, manage change, and have information technology skills are also required. You must have Social Work England registration and be eligible to work in the UK. Additionally, you need to hold a full UK driving licence and possess post-qualified experience. A degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work is also required.
