Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to work as a Band 5 Staff Nurse within a well-established Outpatient Service, based at Bishop Auckland Hospital. This is a general Outpatient Department, serving a variety of medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and specialist outpatient clinics. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team or independently where required. As the Registered Nurse on duty, you will manage the day-to-day running of the department in the absence of the departmental sisters and supervise junior staff and students when required. The role is suitable for a Registered Nurse with post-registration experience that can be utilized within a clinical setting. A working knowledge of the NHS would be advantageous.
Main duties of the job
1. Work alongside a team of Registered Nurses and support staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations within scheduled times.
2. Provide advice and support to patients to promote health and enable optimal health outcomes.
3. Mentor and supervise students and support staff, delivering evidence-based training.
4. Work effectively under pressure and respond appropriately to distressed patients, relatives, or carers.
5. Possess leadership skills to deputize for the department manager and supervise the nursing team.
6. Maintain knowledge of Long Term Health Conditions and Trust policies.
