Are you passionate about data and eager to make a significant impact within Serco? We are looking for a dedicated Data Product Manager to join our Enterprise Data Office (EDO). In this role, you will be responsible for guiding the development and use of data-centric products within the organisation, focusing on our Enabling Functions e.g Finance, HR, Growth, etc. You will oversee the lifecycle of data products, ensuring they align with business goals, provide value to users, and are built upon reliable and scalable infrastructure.
Data is a critical asset at Serco, offering immense value and presenting unique challenges. As part of our central Enterprise Data Office, you will work closely with stakeholders from across the business to define requirements, prioritize features, and ensure that the data product meets both user needs and business objectives. Essentially, you will translate complex data capabilities into tangible business value. You will lead a team of data professionals, inspiring and motivating them to deliver to the highest standards whilst exercising influence and demonstrating authority to ensure that customer needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Create a portfolio of data and analytics products that can be used across business functions to solve business problems and deliver strategic value.
2. Manage a cross-functional product development and deployment process, and a team of BI Developers with diverse skills to perform the needed tasks.
3. Measure the ongoing use and value of the data products within the portfolio.
4. Responsible for the complete data and advanced analytics solutions across the business.
5. Manage data-driven products with a high degree of technical proficiency to maximise the value of data.
6. Direct the team to turn data into valuable insights that inform decisions and provide intelligence to support the formulation of both short-term and long-term strategic plans.
7. Work with analytics teams to analyse data to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that can be used to inform product decisions.
8. Support the use of analytical methods and AI tools to automate specific processes within the organization and develop smart solutions to business challenges.
9. Champion a data-driven culture within the organisation and support data literacy initiatives.
10. Build roadmaps, develop business cases, and design metrics that define the data product's success.
11. Work with data leads to create data pipelines that will fulfil new business needs.
12. Support Data Scientists to use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to the organisation's unique needs.
What You’ll Need:
1. A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or other technical discipline or equivalent experience.
2. 3 years plus experience managing data products and BI development teams, within a business services function that supports various enabling functions.
3. Demonstrable experience of good business orientation along with significant experience in analytics, reporting, and statistical analysis.
4. Experience of managing a portfolio of products, demonstrating the ability to focus on priorities that deliver business value.
5. Strong mathematical skills and proficient in the use of data science techniques.
6. Experience of defining product goals and objectives, developing a product roadmap, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to execute the plan.
7. A solid understanding of technical concepts such as statistics, SQL, and Machine Learning.
8. Deep understanding of the Microsoft and SAP technology stack, specifically SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, Databricks, and Azure Cloud.
9. Experience in creating complex Power BI reports, dashboards, power query, DAX, data models, and data integration from various data sources.
10. Proven track record of leading and managing teams, with the ability to motivate team members.
