The purpose of this role is to have responsibility for adherence to the quality systems and the requirement of all accreditation statuses for the relevant laboratories. Please note this is a full-time home-based role working Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00.
Main duties include:
* Responsible for the maintenance of UKAS accreditation (and other accreditations where appropriate) in Eurofins UK Laboratories. Ensure that the requirements of UKAS, business and customers are met within the scope of the accredited laboratory.
* Act as a key contact for UKAS on all matters of accreditation relating to water testing.
* Attend external audits by UKAS, other regulatory bodies, and customers and ensure that corrective actions are completed and submitted to the relevant body within the required timescale.
* Lead internal auditing to ensure it is carried out effectively and in accordance with audit plans.
* Report to the Director of Technical and Quality, without delay, any issues affecting Quality in the laboratory.
* Stay alert and aware of the commercial activities’ need for accredited tests to ensure that the laboratory teams deploy the appropriate accredited tests in a timely manner.
* Ensure that the Quality procedures and documents, including laboratory methods, are maintained up to date, reflect current practice and group objectives. Amendment and re-issue of all documentation as necessary.
* Work closely with the Group Technical Manager to ensure that written procedures are up to date and easily understood by laboratory staff.
* Responsible for the annual Quality Management Reviews in the relevant sections.
* Train laboratory staff in ISO: 17025, auditing, non-conforming work investigations, and root cause analysis, where applicable.
* Assist the Director of Technical and Quality in developing and driving Quality improvement plans across laboratories to ensure a consistent approach and best practice.
* Assess data and trends as required to instigate improvements through the development of Quality KPI dashboards.
* Deliver continuous improvement in laboratory processes, customer service, Quality, health and safety, with a key focus on efficiency, cost, and timeliness.
* Assess key operational risks and take action to mitigate them.
* Build relationships with laboratory staff; engage them in the purpose, their responsibilities, and use of the Quality system; consult and communicate change to staff.
* Attend Monthly Quality KPI Meetings for each site. Authorisation of external proficiency testing scheme programmes.
* Develop internal Quality Control schemes to meet the needs of the business.
* Perform any other duties necessary to ensure the quality of results and service to customers as designated by the Director of Technical and Quality.
* Manage the local Quality teams, ensuring training and development plans are in place and that Quality regimes are adhered to at local sites.
* Work closely with the Group Quality Managers of other departments to ensure that all aspects of the Quality system are maintained.
* Act as deputy to the Director of Technical and Quality on all matters.
Minimum Requirements:
* Degree in Chemistry/Microbiology or related discipline and relevant experience of Quality Management systems.
* Excellent working knowledge of Microbiology/Chemistry laboratories accredited to ISO: 17025, RSA where applicable.
* Have worked in a laboratory for at least 2 years and in a Quality role for a minimum of 3 years.
* Experience of working in a UKAS accredited laboratory.
* Good IT skills, Word, Excel, LIMS & pivot tables.
* Excellent analytical skills.
* Good auditing skills.
* Must have a ‘can do’ attitude and be able to deliver change through people management skills.
