Job Title: Apprentice Quantity Surveyor (Higher Level Apprentice)
Reporting To: Head of Commercial
Hours of Work: Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00
Role Overview
Working under the direction and guidance of the Head of Commercial and Senior team members, this role will assist with the commercial management of Social Housing Maintenance contracts, including site remeasurement, cost management, and preparation and submission of costs for individual works orders ranging from minor reactive works through to large scale refurbishment and maintenance projects.
The role provides the opportunity to work across several contracts and departments to give exposure to various elements, will be provided with structured, mentored training, and offers excellent opportunities for career development supported by the Head of Commercial. We are seeking an ambitious and target-driven individual who will relish working in a fast-paced and challenged environment who can ensure that commercial and contractual targets are achieved.
Key Activities / Responsibilities
1. Assist with estimating, preparation and submission of job costs.
2. Assist with the preparation of Cost Value Reconciliation reports.
3. Recording and keeping of measurements and records for submission in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant documentation (i.e. certificates/photographs) before submission for payment.
4. Surveys and remeasurement of works on site.
5. Issuing contract correspondences in line with processes and timelines.
6. Work in accordance with client KPIs, particularly Time, Cost, and Quality.
7. Assist with the preparation and submission of Early Warnings and Compensation Events.
8. Taking off quantities from project drawings and specifications.
9. Ensure contract administration, quality, and valuation of works are in accordance with the contract specifications while achieving business commercial delivery.
10. Assist with procuring and managing subcontractor delivery, building strong client and supply chain relationships by working in a collaborative manner.
11. Comply with all health and safety rules and protocols to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
12. Undertake training and attend meetings as required for the proper performance of your duties.
13. Provide support across company departments and perform any other duties as may be reasonably required from time-to-time.
14. Assisting with operational and commercial management of projects.
15. Provide contractual and cost advice to operational management and staff.
16. Procurement and cost management of Subcontractor packages.
17. Ensure detailed records of works are recorded and maintained, that are accurate and auditable and available for submission as required in a timely manner.
18. Surveys and costing of proposed works and remeasurement of completed works.
19. Assist with quality audit of works from site records to ensure works have been completed to client instructions and contract specifications.
20. Preparation and submission of job costs in line with the contract Schedule of Rates.
21. Monitoring of internal KPIs ensuring all targets are achieved and maintained.
22. Build strong client and supply chain relationships by working in a collaborative manner with good communication channels, ensuring resolutions, repeat business, and service.
23. Estimating and preparation of tenders.
Education / Experience
Working towards achieving a Construction related Foundation degree or similar.
Skills/Competencies

3. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a cross-functional team to complete tasks under strict deadlines.
4. A self-motivated individual with a logical approach to problem solving.
