We are currently recruiting for a Banksman for our client in Portsmouth PO6.

Pay: £12.07 p/h (PAYE)

Duration: 12 weeks
Hours: Working a shift pattern of 4 days on 4 days off. Hours of work 06:00 -18:00 with two 1/2 hour breaks.
Location: Portsmouth PO6
You must have a valid DBS and a clean driving license.
Description:
To assist in providing both Patients, Staff and Visitors with a safe environment to receive and operate deliveries, by assisting with the management of vehicles within the receipt and distribution dept. In addition contributing to the operational and cleanliness of the department/area, and associated equipment in a Hospital/Healthcare setting, whilst working closely with ward/department staff to ensure high quality service provision.
Specific Core Functions
1. Banksman has a series of specific tasks and duties that they must perform routinely to maintain safety and efficiency on site:
2. Accept and manage deliveries, moving stocks and supplies where directed. Communicating effectively with vehicle operators to ensure they are aware of nearby obstacles.
3. Be visible to drivers at all times whilst directing vehicles and plant.
4. Keep traffic areas free of pedestrians.
5. Using signs and barriers to manage the flow of traffic and secure the site.
6. Minimise the amount of reversing where possible and be aware of the dangers caused when reversing.
7. Ensure the Service Yard is substantially free from litter and kept in an organised and tidy manner.
8. The moving of light furniture for general cleaning purposes following H&S procedures.
9. Daily cleaning as required of public area and R&D.
10. Ensure that the correct cleaning products are used within the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, alongside the use of personal protective equipment eg safety googles, gloves and aprons.
11. Report accidents, near misses or non-conformities to their Team Leader of Manager
12. Responsible for ensuring the safe disposal/packaging of waste as per NHSS policy for example Clinical Waste, Household Waste.
13. Movement of Furniture/Equipment is subject to Risk Assessment by Team Leader to enable effective access for periodic cleaning.
14. Reporting details of faults and failures of electrical equipment /fabric of the building to
Team Leader.
15. Responsible for maintaining adequate stocks of cleaning materials and consumables and
16. requesting further supplies from Team Leader.
17. Workforce Management - responsible for swiping/logging in at the start and finish of the shift.
18. Work together with Department in Performance and Development Reviews.
19. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
20. Work together with Policies and Procedures of NHS Portsmouth and the Department.
21. Demonstrate courteous behaviour.
22. It is possible that on occasion the postholder may be asked to work in other areas of the facilities service. This is not expected to be on a frequent or regular basis and would only take place after appropriate training and support was given.
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY
The postholder will be required to operate the following equipment.
* Procedures as detailed in the Logisitcs Services Operational Procedures Manual.
* Pallet Trucks

Skills:
Skills A Bankmans experience would be advantage.
Post holder is required to
* Complete Logisitics workbook.
* Attend Corporate Induction, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness and Essential Skills.
