Cycle North are recruiting individuals to train as Cycling Instructors to deliver Bikeability cycle training in primary schools from January 2025 onwards in:
Rotherham and Doncaster.
How to apply
1. Complete and return the Cycle North application form as soon as possible.

2. If your application is accepted, we will then ask you to attend an interview (which maybe on-line).
3. Successful applicants will be required to attend a free 3 three day training course and complete a number of online modules prior to the course itself.
Instructor Cycle Training course
This is an enjoyable and practical training course comprising of a mixture of classroom/workshop sessions and training on local roads.
Please note that you will need to attend all of the dates listed below to complete the course. You will be paid for attending the course on completion of all online tasks and if you pass the three day course.

Course dates and times
January
Tuesday 7th - 9am to 5pm
Wednesday 8th - 9am to 5pm
Thursday 9th - 9am to 5pm
N.B. you need to attend all days and there will be some evening prep to do.
There will also online modules to complete beforehand taking 10 hours.
Qualified Cycling Instructors
On successful completion of the training course participants will be given a nationally recognised Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training. Cycle North will be able to offer employment to qualified Cycling Instructors, backdated to the first day of the training course, to deliver cycle training in schools from September onward.
The Role
Cycling Instructors generally work three days a week for Cycle North during school term time around 18.5 hours a week. Cycle Training is seasonal which means there will be less cycle training in December and January and during the school holidays. There is an initial 3-6 month probationary period.
The role will appeal to people who enjoy cycling, working with children in schools (mostly aged 9 to 12 years old) and being outdoors.
Many of our Cycling Instructors are semi-retired/retired, former school teachers, sports coaches or those who have other part time jobs and are looking for additional term -time work.
Applicants for this role will be subject to DBS checks.
