Job Description Summary
The Buying Specialist at GE Aerospace's Additive Technology Center is responsible for managing and optimizing the buying process for shop consumables and will be expected to apply lean principles to develop systems with operation teams for managing inventory that minimize queue time, while reducing inventory.
The Buying Specialist will ensure all indirect material needed for the shop is available at time of need. Will work with end users of materials to develop strategy for the site for managing inventory. They will demonstrate leadership in and accountability for business goals & commitments, and metrics.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Manage the lifecycle of purchase orders, including Fixed Asset Management System. This includes obtaining quotes/estimates, placing orders, tracking delivery timelines, and ensuring proper invoicing.
2. Manage relationships with suppliers for PO execution.
3. Manage problems and schedule changes. Communicate to stakeholders.
4. Maintain tracking of materials on-hand and consumption rates to be able to strategically decide on reorder points, incorporate into to purchasing process.
5. Based on site need and historical information, determine the type of PO needed for each situation to optimize procurement process of goods or service.
6. Developing in-depth knowledge of a discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired expertise to execute functional policy/strategy.
7. Communication with direct colleagues and the business about design and coordination services rendered.
8. Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations.
9. Utilizes technical expertise and judgement to solve problems.
10. Leverages technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
11. Provides tactical support of Lean efforts within the site.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Sourcing & Buying-Procurement).
