About this role
We are recruiting for our IT Graduate to join the team for 2025. The role is focused on contributing to the development of our internal systems, including hands-on coding, testing, and producing user documentation, with the aim over a three-year period to become a Developer with our IT team. This is an entry-level role, but you’ll need a degree in computer science or a related field, or be able to demonstrate hands-on coding experience and be happy to work out of our office in Carlisle. We are committed to developing our business in the Cloud, and you will get the opportunity to develop in Amazon Web Services using NodeJS or Python, and using low-code tools like Appsmith and Zapier. Our data and reporting is all in Postgres, GraphQL, and Power BI.

Main responsibilities
* Code, build and test small serverless or no-code applications to automate tasks.
* Work closely with the team to understand their needs and scope the solution necessary to inform their decisions and can explain technical details.
* Build automated test cases, and test data sets for areas of the system.
* Effectively evaluate and analyze data across the business.
* Design and document business processes from flowcharts to simple user instruction guides.
Working hours
This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.
These hours will be worked Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm.
Experience required
* You will hold a degree in either Business Management, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
* Problem-solving and technical skills to get to the heart of issues.
* Investigate complex problems and develop solutions which combine business ideas and technology.
* Experience of software development whether in business or as a hobby.
* Happy to work in ‘Virtual teams’ cross-functionally.
* Ability to think critically, considering the benefits and limitations of different solutions.
* Working knowledge of database design and management.
* Time management, efficient and well-organized, your own project manager.
* A strong attention to detail.
Any hands-on experience of any of the following will be beneficial:
* Serverless / No-Code Applications like AWS Lambda/Step Functions, Zapier.
* Microsoft Reporting Technologies including Power BI or Power Apps.
* Data Processing & Modelling tools like R / PowerQuery SQL.
