We are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Depot General Manager to join our team of like-minded individuals within the logistic division of our company. You will assist us during an important period of organic growth, taking operational responsibility for all aspects of delivery and collection with responsibility for all drivers and warehouse personnel.
This role isn’t heavy lifting. This is bringing together many hands to make light work!

Main Duties & Responsibilities
·To oversee the delivery team at our Bodmin site
·To ensure the financial objectives of the business are being met
·To ensure full compliance with all company health and safety procedures
·To effectively co-ordinate and control rotas, absence, and ever-changing delivery/collection volumes
·To ensure expected service levels are met
·To deliver increased profitability by identifying efficiencies on an ongoing basis
·Full P&L responsibility
·To oversee staff recruitment/retention, development, training and discipline
·To maintain clear lines of communication with the Directors, staff and management
·To manage internal reporting of sales and costs
·To manage fleet compliance
Personal Specification
Essential
·Extensive previous experience of the parcel/logistics industry, ideally within a corporate environment
·Exceptional management and communication skills with an ability to delegate whilst retaining control
·An ability to inspire and mentor others
·Demonstrable experience in meeting corporate customer requirements and working with Key Performance Indicators
·An entrepreneurial approach to maximising revenues and profitability
·An ability to implement and manage processes and change
·A problem-solving approach with the ability to make good decisions under pressure
·A team player with a collaborative approach
·A good working knowledge of the legal aspects of operating a logistics business
Desirable
·A good knowledge of the local area
·An existing network of contacts within the logistics and parcel industries
·CPC Holder
Further Information
Reporting to: The Operations Director
Responsible for: Operations team, drivers (employed and contracted) and admin support staff
Based: Bodmin, PL31 1EP
Hours of Work: As required to meet the needs of the business
Salary: This is a full-time salaried position.
£30k-£40k plus a performance related pay package linked to the overall KPI performance will be introduced within 6 months of commencement.
Holiday Entitlement: 5.6 weeks per year (including Bank Holidays).
An Enhanced Holiday benefit: For every continuous year you’re with us, you’ll receive an extra day of holiday, up to a maximum of five.
Start Date: Mid - January – early February 2025
