Senior Planning Engineer – Energy Infrastructure Projects
We’re seeking a skilled Senior Planning Engineer to join a high-performing project controls team working on large-scale energy infrastructure delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive progress in the global energy transition, contributing to major projects that are shaping a more sustainable future.
As part of the project controls function, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing planning and scheduling activities, ensuring that critical infrastructure projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget. You’ll work cross-functionally, liaising with senior leadership, technical teams, and external partners to provide insights and influence decision-making at every stage of the project lifecycle.
This role may also offer growth into broader project controls responsibilities, including cost control, depending on your experience and interests.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead planning and scheduling for large-scale, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
2. Build and maintain project baselines, resource forecasts, and performance metrics.
3. Identify and mitigate schedule risks and blockers through detailed analysis and team collaboration.
4. Present data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
5. Coordinate schedule interfaces across internal teams and third parties.
6. Support change management, time impact analysis, and claims preparation.
7. Collaborate with cost and risk teams to ensure alignment across controls functions.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
1. 5+ years’ experience in project planning and scheduling, including team leadership.
2. Advanced user of Primavera P6 (essential).
3. Background in large infrastructure or complex engineering projects.
4. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
5. Experience in schedule risk analysis, claims, and forensic planning is a plus.
6. Familiarity with cost control and integrated project controls preferred.
7. Analytical mindset, proactive approach, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Location: UK or EU-based preferred (flexibility on location for the right candidate)
