Job Purpose
This role would involve the refurbishment of engines and similar equipment used in the rail, marine and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities & Activities
1. Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace.
2. Ensure all health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to.
3. Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents by the end of that shift to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence.
4. To be able to strip and re-build all the mechanical components of an engine, as per the work instruction.
5. To be able to work to OEM manuals.
6. To read and interpret assembly specifications and manuals, to plan assembly and build operations.
7. The ability to verify conformance of parts to stock lists, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
8. To liaise with other business units to get the task completed.
9. The ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
10. To accurately complete documentation to the Company’s standards.
11. To ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
12. To mentor trainees/apprentices when applicable.
13. To report any near misses.
14. To comply with Company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental and HR policies and procedures.
15. To report any failures/faults identified.

Job Requirements
Normal basic working hours are 44 hours per week.
Based at Barton, Burton Upon Trent.
Person Specification
1. To be able to work within a changing environment, working to deadlines and short lead times.
2. The ability to work as part of a team.
3. To take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities.
Qualifications/Education Required:
1. Minimum NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds in motor repairs or equivalent.
2. Relevant experience in rail or automotive industry.
3. Excellent planning and organisational skills.
4. Ability to work on own initiative.
5. Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
6. 5 years engine building experience required.
