Job Overview
A unique opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to join the Neurosciences Team, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital site.
The Oxford Neurosciences Tertiary Referral Centre provides world-class comprehensive care for neurology and neurosurgery patients within Oxfordshire, surrounding areas, and beyond.
The post holder will be part of a well-established, friendly neurosciences pharmacy team.
Main Duties of the Job
The post-holder will:
1. Be or become a knowledge expert in clinical pharmacy relating to Neurosciences including prescribing, screening, advising, and optimising medicines use in the area.
2. Promote, monitor, and improve the safe and cost-effective use of medicines within neurosciences through regular communication, budgetary reports, and feedback to the directorate.
3. Develop and lead the pharmacy service to Neurosciences.
4. Routinely review, update, or develop Neurosciences medicines-related guidelines.
5. Provide pharmaceutical advice to patients, carers, or specialists.
6. Have delegated responsibility for specific aspects of the neurosciences pharmacy service as agreed with the Directorate Pharmacist.
7. Support and deputise for the Directorate Pharmacist in the provision of a safe, effective, and efficient clinical pharmacy service to the neurosciences directorate, in accordance with local and national standards and strategy.
8. Champion the needs of neurosciences patients in relevant forums e.g. pharmacy governance.
9. Provide specialised professional and technical education and training to enable the clinical units to meet high standards of patient care and safety.
10. Support and mentor junior pharmacists in the neurosciences pharmacy team, ensuring they have education and training relevant to their development, regular one-to-ones, and appraisals.

* Post-graduate clinical diploma
* Leadership qualification or training
* Broad clinical pharmacy provision in a number of different clinical areas or sectors
* Working across organisational boundaries
* Line management experience
