Responsibilities
* Design and development of transducers and related fixtures and fittings, using 3D CAD software and 2D drawing creation. (Solidworks)
* Design of automated mechanical testing systems.
* Hands-on experience in finite element analysis (FEA) for stress, deflection, and optimization studies.
* Create detailed technical drawings, assembly instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
* Conduct engineering calculations, including stress, strain and load analysis, ensuring designs meet performance and reliability standards.
* Evaluate and implement manufacturing techniques to improve product quality, cost-effectiveness and production efficiency.
* Support prototype fabrication, testing and calibration of load cells to ensure performance consistency.
* Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Experience / Qualifications Essential:
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* Experience in design of precision components.
* Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks).
* Deep understanding of stress and strain principles, material behaviour, and mechanical properties.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Familiarity with manufacturing techniques such as CNC machining, welding, and assembly.
* Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
* Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
* Experience in 3D printing and CNC machining
* Experience in calibrating and testing load cells using dead weights or other calibration systems.
* Understanding of sensor electronics and signal processing.
Details
* Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
* Working Hours: 09:00am to 5:00pm, Monday - Friday (flexible with hybrid options).
* Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.
