East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) is a leading healthcare provider in East Anglia, committed to delivering high quality care to the populations of Ipswich, east Suffolk, and north Essex and surrounding communities. We are seeking an exceptional and experienced leader to take on the role of Director of Estates and Facilities, ensuring our estate and facilities services meet the needs of patients, staff, and visitors across our hospitals and community sites.
As Director of Estates and Facilities, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all estate and facilities functions, ensuring they are aligned with the Trust’s overall strategy and objectives. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term estates strategy, ensuring that our infrastructure supports the highest standards of care delivery while promoting efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
You will work alongside Executive and Non-Executive Directors as a key member of the Trust’s leadership team and have responsibility for the strategic development and operational management of the Trust’s estate, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. You will oversee a budget of approximately £60 million, managing capital projects, maintenance, and facilities services across multiple sites, including Ipswich Hospital, Colchester Hospital, and our community locations.
In joining us, you will lead a dedicated team in delivering high quality estates and facilities services, ensuring robust governance, effective contract management, and value for money. You will provide professional guidance on key areas such as estates maintenance, capital development, fire safety, health and safety, security, and sustainability. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in managing PFI contracts and third-party agreements to optimise the Trust’s estate and facilities portfolio.
We are seeking an outstanding individual with significant experience in estates and facilities leadership within a large, complex organisation. You will bring expertise in strategic planning, budget management, and performance improvement, with a strong track record of leading large multidisciplinary teams. You will demonstrate an ability to foster trusted relationships with key stakeholders and lead the development of a sustainable, high performing estate.
Our future must be shaped around our people, supported by dynamic leadership and robust governance. In taking on this role, you will be instrumental in fostering a culture that empowers staff, drives efficiency, and enhances the physical environment in which we deliver care to our communities. You will work alongside a capable and ambitious leadership team, making a lasting and positive impact on the lives of the people we serve across Suffolk and north Essex.
We are committed to increasing the diversity of our leadership team to reflect the communities we serve and particularly welcome applications from groups currently underrepresented at senior levels.
