Are you a highly motivated and experienced engineer with a passion for safety and reliability? Our client, a leading organisation in Wolverhampton, is seeking a talented individual to join their team as a Principal Safety & Reliability Engineer. This is a temporary position with a contract length of 6 months, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute your expertise to a variety of projects.
As the Principal Safety & Reliability Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the engineering design meets the highest standards of reliability, maintainability, and safety. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary project team and provide expert engineering support to the Value Stream. Your responsibilities will include interpreting, organising, and coordinating milestones, as well as delivering on time in full. Additionally, you will analyse systems at both unit and detail design level and recommend system design changes to adhere to safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Actively engaging with the project team to optimise system and product design in relation to safety and reliability.
2. Working closely with the Systems Engineering Lead to develop new and innovative system architectures that comply with safety and certification requirements.
3. Developing safety and system-level architecture requirements for novel systems.
4. Providing analysis and data for new product introduction projects.
5. Gathering lessons learned from previous in-service experience and implementing them effectively.
6. Participating in design reviews and assessing the impact of design changes on reliability, maintainability, and safety.
7. Specifying reliability and safety requirements for bought-out specifications and system components.
8. Supporting risk analysis activities and identifying mitigation methods.
9. Providing technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers.
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong engineering or mathematics background with excellent knowledge of reliability and safety engineering. Knowledge of Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is required. You should also have a good understanding of mechanical and electronic engineering and possess excellent analytical and mathematical skills. Proficiency in computer applications like word processors and spreadsheets is essential, along with familiarity with aerospace standards and certification requirements.
