Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Contributestoagoodworkingenvironmentinwhichpatientsreceiveahigh standard of care.
Ensuresthatcareispatient-focusedandthatpatientdignityandprivacyare maintained at all times.
PracticesinaccordancewiththeNMCCodeofProfessionalConductand other appropriate NMC guidelines.

Toprovidepsychologicalandemotionalsupporttopatientsinthe gynaecology inpatient ward and gynaecology day unit .
Actsunderdirectionoftheregisterednurseinchargeofthenursingteamin setting standards and expectations in the quality of care.
Takesanactiveroleinmaintainingeffectivecommunicationwithall disciplines, patients and relatives.
Representspatientsatmulti-disciplinarymeetingsensuringthattheirneeds are assertively presented.
Ensures that all Trust and Unit policies and procedures are adhered to. ActsaccordingtotheHealth&SafetyActandmanualhandlingpractice.
Records all accidents or incidents and report to the nurse in charge. Informmanagerwhenchangesincircumstancesoccurwhichaffectsafe and competent practice.
Participatesinthesafestorageandadministrationofmedicinesin accordance with Trust Policy.
Totakeresponsibilityforoperationalissuesintheabsenceofmoresenior staff.
Ensuresthatallclinicalandlegalnursingdocumentsarecompleted accurately and legibly and that their relevance is understood and confidentialitymaintained inaccordancewithTrustpolicyandNMC guidelines.
Assistswiththemaintenanceofnecessaryequipmentandsuppliesin order to carry out clinical activity with efficiency and safety.
WorksinconjunctionwiththeteamleaderorSister/Chargenurseto ensure safe care for all patients in gynaecology department.
Hasknowledgeofthestructureofreferralmechanismswithinthe outpatient and inpatient environment for the differing specialities.
Undertakesanyreasonableandrelevantclinicalornon-clinicalfunctions commensurate with grade to ensure patient needs are met at all times.
Practicesinaccordancewiththeprofessionaldirectionasstipulatedinthe Trust’s Nursing & Midwifery strategy.
