Job Responsibilities:
1. Perform unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work that does not require the attention of a fully qualified craftsperson, related to his/her training.
2. Learn minor repair work related to other trades as required.
3. Use all relevant tools safely and responsibly.
4. Undertake training for new practices, procedures, and equipment.
5. Assist colleagues on new work and repairs.
6. Perform other routine tasks including labouring as and when required.
7. Carry out all duties of engineering Storeman if necessary.
8. Undertake all work activities as requested by the Building Team Supervisor.
9. Assist team with drainage solutions whenever required.
10. Work in accordance with Trust safety rules and procedures at all times.
11. Be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.
12. Actively participate in the operation and control of planned maintenance schemes.
13. Complete all paperwork and reports as required by the facilities labour control scheme.
14. Carry out all work on equipment as required by the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH Regulations, Building and Construction Regulations and the Trust's Safety Policy.
15. Work overtime to carry out repairs/maintenance not possible during normal hours.
16. Carry Trust communication devices such as mobile telephones, two-way radios, or pagers to facilitate immediate response to emergencies.
17. Hold a current certificate of training and be competent in the operation and use of a counterbalance forklift truck for compliance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998.
18. Participate in Estates permit to work systems, as applicable to the role and work activities to be carried out.
19. Document and report all accidents, incidents, near misses, damages and irregularities to a manager in accordance with Trust policy.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Basic education to GCSE/'O' Level in Maths and English or post-Secondary Education training in a relevant field.
Experience
* Basic knowledge/experience of building trades.
* Building trade background.
* Previous experience of working in an acute Hospital environment or similar demanding role.
Additional Criteria
* Physically demanding role requiring manual handling of loads, extremes of temperature and the ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
* Appreciation of his/her own limitations.
