About the Role As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide tailored support to a student, ensuring their social, emotional, and academic growth. Your role will involve creating a positive learning experience, offering encouragement, and fostering the child’s independence. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one support, both inside and outside the classroom. Assist the child in accessing lessons and activities, adapting resources where necessary. Implement strategies designed to support the student’s development, as outlined by the SENCO or class teacher. Monitor and document the student’s progress, sharing updates with the teacher and parents. Support the child in developing essential social and communication skills. Help create a safe and welcoming environment that promotes the child’s well-being. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the child’s needs are met effectively. What We’re Looking For Previous experience supporting children, particularly in 1:1 or SEN roles, is an advantage (but not essential). A genuine passion for making a difference in children’s lives. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong connections with students. Good communication and organizational skills. Adaptability and a proactive approach to supporting the child’s needs.
