We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior IT Technical Support in our Pharma Services Division in Cambridge, UK. The Opportunity This role will be stand alone in the UK and you will be part of SMC’s corporate IT team who are predominantly based in the US. You will report to the IT Infrastructure Manager who is also based in the US. This is very much a hands-on role and you will be required to work on site, supporting a small and friendly, but growing, team. The primary purpose of the role is to assist in the support and maintenance of the network information technologies (i.e. installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading and enhancing hardware or software) while providing technical assistance / support to internal customers. Main areas of responsibility include: Maintain, troubleshoot and fix failures in the server Backups. Review and log daily events for these servers. Review events on the local infrastructure and resolve potential issues. Communicate recommendations of updated network equipment to the Network Administrator. Review and approve utility billings. Accept and solve tier 1 and 2 support issues. Collaborate with LAN/WAN administrators to ensure efficient operation of the company’s infrastructure for our internal customers. Support manufacturing with backup and Password management of Industrial Machines (PLC's ) and Servers Assist in defining computer configurations. Fix, maintain, troubleshoot, install computer systems, printers, phones, servers, networking hardware and all other IT related equipment and Help Desk issues. Provide computer/network support relating to software and hardware problems. Support the badge and camera security software. What we are looking for Hardware skills: Dell Servers and Computers, HP & Zebra Printers, Cisco Access & Aruba Points, HP Switches, UPS Software skills: Microsoft Server and Windows Operating systems, VM Ware, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange, Veritas Backup Exec, IP Phone system, ConnectWise, Antivirus, Lansweeper Asset Manager, Helpdesk tools Demonstrable ability to conduct problem analysis and resolution at a functional level. Technical skills and experience in Local and Wide Area Networks. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
