Electronics Engineer – Aerospace & Defence Location: Portsmouth UK Nationals Only (Security Restrictions Apply) A leading company in the Aerospace & Defence sector is looking for experienced Electronics Engineers with full lifecycle experience. In this role, you will develop and implement critical hardware electronic solutions across the entire development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, legislation, and safety standards. Role Overview This is a safety-critical position where you will: Interpret system requirements into clear, unambiguous hardware design requirements Develop Hardware Development Plans to define workflow Design, analyze, commission, and verify analogue and digital circuits Collaborate with systems, safety, software, and mechanical engineers Support hardware qualification activities and production troubleshooting Key Responsibilities Document design activities and ensure traceability to requirements, maintaining compliance with project, company, or regulatory standards Work collaboratively across disciplines to ensure hardware-level requirements are met and to resolve trade-offs or design challenges Contribute to system architectures, evaluate alternative concepts, and determine evidence-based preferred solutions Provide support to production to resolve build or obsolescence issues and respond to customer requests or investigations Plan, generate, and validate results of hardware verification plans and procedures Specify, design, commission, and verify equipment test solutions to support verification, qualification activities, and production Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Essential: Experience managing the full electronics lifecycle Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering or HND with significant relevant work experience Proven experience developing high-integrity designs within a critical safety environment Ability to present complex engineering concepts in a clear and understandable manner Capability to independently manage workload to meet technical, quality, and schedule requirements Willingness to work on safety-critical products in a highly regulated industry Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web browsers Desirable: Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering disciplines Experience documenting designs for formal qualification or certification Awareness of simple embedded software to facilitate hardware/software integration Some knowledge of lean design techniques
