Vacancy:
We currently have opportunities for BANK support workers to work across our children’s residential care homes in Bicester, Oxfordshire. Although previous experience of working in children’s services in not essential, we are looking for experienced support workers who are passionate and caring and have a keen interest in positive outcomes for children and young people and can act as a positive role model.
Working closely with a dedicated staff team, you will be involved in providing a nurturing and supportive environment for young people in our care and help them reach their full potential.
Every day is different, and you will support our young people with a variety of activities both in the home and outside, taking them to school, appointments and always ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
Each child we support is unique and they enjoy a range of activities such as swimming, walking, baking, cooking, sporting activities, listening to music/ audio books, puzzles, playing lego, playing video games etc – you will be on hand to support and provide general guidance.
We have opportunities available for night and day shifts.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Demonstrate to the young people the value of education, care and development to achieve better outcomes
* Build and create mutual trust and respect with young people in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and advice
* Define structures and boundaries of behaviour to young people, acting as a positive role model, so they understand daily routines expected.
* Produce, maintain and distribute house paperwork to ensure relevant information is recorded accurately and is available.
* Support and analyse young people’s behaviour to encourage them to participate in a positive structured routine.
* Create and produce activities to occupy and develop young people in order that they gain life skills and education on an informed basis
* Maintain knowledge of and apply the relevant legislative, regulative and standards against inspection framework requirements.
* Provide basic advice and skills to young people on managing their finances and other everyday life skills.

* Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to meet operational needs of the home
* Positive role model – honesty and empathy are a must.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to handle challenging situations with patience and a calm demeanour.
* A full UK Driver’s license
