The role
As a Radiation Protection Instrumentation Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll provide support to the Metrology team from a high-level, problem-solving perspective when something doesn’t go to plan.
Day-to-day, you’ll direct technical contribution and expertise to the Metrology, Approved Dosimetry Services and Field Services at Berkeley, and actioning any issues that arise.
1. Liaising with the Berkeley Team Leaders to develop and co-ordinate technical improvements, and ensuring safety considerations are incorporated.
2. Identify new developments in the fields of Metrology; assess on safety/cost/quality/delivery improvement basis and put forward cost/benefit cases.
3. Co-ordinate the provision of technical data to ensure full validation and uncertainty budgets are fully realised.
4. Co-ordinate and lead technical contributions to tenders and improvement projects for Metrology at Berkeley.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 4 days onsite and 1 day working from home and is based in Berkeley.
Essential experience of the Radiation Protection Instrumentation Specialist:
5. Technical background in radiation protection instrumentation and /or radiological background.
6. Effective communication skills.
7. Organisation and time management skills.
8. Experience in managing Customer and Stakeholder relationships.
9. Knowledge and awareness of current relevant legislation and standards, particularly ISO.
Qualifications for the Radiation Protection Instrumentation Specialist:
10. Degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant technical discipline.
