Job Summary
Due to growth in the team, we are seeking a passionate and proactive Learning & Development Specialist to shape and drive our organisational development strategy. As a newly created role within the business, this position will focus on designing and implementing a company-wide competency framework, conducting regular training needs analyses, and developing a structured appraisal programme aligned with annual pay reviews. Additionally, the role will play a key part in supporting strategic workforce development, ensuring continuous learning and professional growth across the organisation.
The role offers hybrid working, with our head office being located in Peasedown. It is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday.
In addition to a competitive salary, Independent Health Group offers an employer pension contribution of 6% of your earnings. We also offer 25 days annual leave, a day off for your birthday (if it falls on one of your working days), bank holidays, plus the option to buy up to a further 2 weeks of annual leave.

Competency Framework & Training Needs Analysis
* Develop and implement a company-wide competency framework to support career progression and performance excellence.
* Conduct regular training needs analyses at departmental and company-wide levels to identify skill gaps and workforce development priorities.
* Create and maintain a skills matrix to track competencies and ensure alignment with business needs.
Learning & Development Programmes
* Create, deliver, and evaluate induction programmes to ensure new hires are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to succeed.
* Act as the point of contact for all external training requests, ensuring access to high-quality learning opportunities.
* Work alongside the Clinical Educator to support strategic workforce development in both clinical and non-clinical areas.
Management Capability & Leadership Development
* Develop and implement training programmes to enhance management capability, equipping leaders with the skills to effectively manage teams.
* Deliver leadership training focused on communication, decision-making, coaching, and performance management.
* Support line managers in developing their teams through structured coaching and mentoring initiatives.
* Ensure managers have access to the necessary tools and knowledge to drive engagement, productivity, and a positive workplace culture.
Performance & Appraisal Programme
* Develop and implement a structured appraisal programme aligned with annual pay reviews to drive performance and career progression.
* Support managers in conducting effective performance reviews, setting clear development goals, SMART objectives and fostering employee growth.
Growing the Business & Workforce Development
* Support the business's growth strategy by ensuring the workforce is skilled, agile, and prepared to meet future demands.
* Align L&D initiatives with business expansion plans, ensuring talent development keeps pace with organisational growth.
* Identify opportunities for digital transformation in learning, optimising training efficiency and accessibility.
* Work closely with senior leadership to forecast workforce needs and implement proactive development strategies.
Strategic Workforce Development
* Collaborate with the HR and leadership teams to embed a learning culture across the organisation.
* Support the integration of succession planning and talent development initiatives.
* Provide insights and recommendations on emerging L&D trends to keep IHG at the forefront of workforce development.
* Monitor and report on the impact and effectiveness of training initiatives, continuously improving programmes based on feedback and performance data.
