Role Purpose
To act as the Building Manager for the Spirit Prestwick Aerospace Innovation Centre. This role entails developing and maintaining the facility to support the needs of the R&T and Engineering teams.
Spirit’s Aerospace Innovation Centre (AIC) is being developed as an open access centre to:
1. Enable Spirit AeroSystems (Europe) Ltd. (Spirit) to pursue large scale R&D demonstrator and industrialisation technology and capability development.
2. Facilitate Spirit and its supply chain partners (both existing and new) to participate in the collaborative development, manufacture and supply of aero structures for the next generation of commercial aircraft.
3. Support innovative companies to pursue novel composite and manufacturing technology development opportunities in a wide range of industries across Scottish manufacturing and beyond.
This role will ensure the smooth operation of the centre today and prepare the centre for the future.
AIC Building Manager
This opportunity, based at our Prestwick site offers:
1. 37 hour working week (half day Friday)

Responsibilities
14. Foster a safety first ethos within and around the innovation centre by acting as the centre EH&S focal point. Work with EH&S and the appropriate departments on site to embed processes, procedures and training focused on the safety of the team. Ensure all Risk and CoSHH assessments are topical and up to date to protect and support AIC personnel and activities. Own and audit Gemba activities. Continually develop the facility for safe working and as an environment to drive innovation.
15. Own and maintain Operating and Business Continuity Plans.
16. Own the development of the internal layout of the building as plant/equipment is introduced and retired.
17. Establish and develop the facility maintenance contracts, lead and direct maintenance staff in the facility alongside the facilities team. Work with site Facilities to ensure PPM is in place and support is available to maintain operational readiness so that equipment is available to deliver project objectives. Lead the dedicated Key technicians & cleaning staff on a day to day basis.
18. Support the use of the facility as an events centre and showcase for the business. Support event leaders in preparing for and running events. Promote the centre as an asset for use by all Spirit Prestwick teams and beyond.
19. Budget responsibility: Set annual budgets and manage spend within budget. Use the RIO process to manage variations between AOP’s.
20. Work with the facilities team to provide facilities support to the day-to-day operation of the AIC.
21. Act as the facility PoC for SOFT services (cleaning, security, catering) & IT.
22. Lead equipment, building and financial audits as required.
23. Develop the Centre as an open access facility for UK businesses.
24. Develop and maintain the AIC building strategy to maximise the value of the facility for operations in the 2, 4 and 6 year horizons. Align this with Business Development and UK R&T strategies.
25. Develop and maintain the AIC Facility reporting dashboard for the Head of AIC/ Director of R&T.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
26. Professionally qualification or equivalent experience - in Engineering and/or Building
27. Construction and/or Civil Engineering and/or Services Engineering
28. Project and Risk Management knowledge and experience
29. Solid experience in a Research environment
30. Sound Environmental, Health & Safety awareness and understanding
31. Understanding and ability to interpret appropriate forms of contract law
32. Sound Commercial and Financial awareness.
33. Good Negotiating Skills
34. Management and Leadership understanding and experience
35. IT skills including Project, Excel, Word and application of data bases
36. Understanding of problem-solving tools and technique
