Consulting brings together multiple teams acrossTransactions, Risk & Consulting, ABA, and Outsourcing toprovide client-centric solutions for RSM’s current and futureclients within the middle market. This exciting role is to join an established andgrowing Accounting and Business Advisory (ABA) team, based inour London office.
The role is a Manager in our Accountingand Financial Reporting (AFR) service line. Our AFR servicesinclude preparation of statutory financial statements for large andmedium companies, supporting our clients with financial reportingadvice, liaising with audit and tax teams on financial reportingassignments. teams.
We act for clients across a wide range ofsectors including retail, media and technology, travel,manufacturing and PE backed entities. With a personal, Partner andDirector led approach we work as trusted advisers to a wealth ofclients from small owner-managed businesses to large corporateclients.
Overall jobpurpose
As with all managers in the team, youwill be required to assist the Department Head in day-to-daymanagement as well as managing your own portfolio of clients,ensuring the highest possible standards of client service at alltimes, building and maintaining client relationships. You will takean active role in the growth of the department throughidentification of opportunities and associated business developmentactivities.
The role will include providing GAAP support andadvisory services to our clients, supporting our (non-audit)clients through their audit process. Strong managerial andtechnical skills, with detailed working knowledge of FRS 102, FRS101 and Companies Act reporting requirements are essential, andIFRS experience is preferable. Other areas of expertise such asacquisition accounting, share based payments and debt modificationswould be an advantage.
Responsibilities
* Managing a portfolio of clients withvarying assignments, whichincludes;
o determining resource requirements andensuring that the team has the relevant experience and skillsrequired;
o liaising with clients to establish timetable andmeeting deadlines for delivery ofwork;
o being the key point of contact for clients, liaisingwith them frequently and understanding their businessrequirements;
o monitoring the team’s progress againstbudgets;
o ensuring appropriate liaison takes place with all otherdepartments, and that all potential client needs are identified andserviced accordingly;
o reviewing work completed by juniormembers of the team, providing relevant feedback and beingproactive in identifying training needs;and
o thoroughly researching and resolving issues prior toPartner or Directorreview.
* Maintaining an advanced level oftechnical knowledge through appropriate reading and courses andfulfilling any development or trainingrequirements.
* Providing technical support to the AFRDirectors and Partners as well as technical advice to our clientbase and other departments as and whenrequired.
* Liaising with clients throughout the year andpracticing the principles of excellent client service at alltimes.
* Closely monitoring the practice management systemreports, to ensure the profitable recoverability of work inprogress, and billing on a timelybasis.
* To develop a detailed knowledge of the firm’sspecialist services, actively look for opportunities to cross sell,and to undertake special work in response to client needs whereappropriate.
* Participating in the recruitment processfor specialist hires or graduate recruits, leading first roundinterviews and making recommendations to AFR Directors andPartners.
* As a line manager, manage the AFR team’s appraisalprocess ensuring appropriate objectives and development plans arein place for junior members of the team. You will also be requiredto support the overall technical training and development needs ofthe staff within the AFRdepartment.
* To perform the firm’s review and completion procedures,to attend the final meeting with the client and to ensure that theclient subsequently receives the final accounts, management letterand adjustment to opening balances on a timelybasis.
* To be involved in any other administrative departmentaland office issues as deemedappropriate.
* Carry out ad hocassignments.

* ACA/ACCA fully qualified, with at leastthree years PQE and one year experience of managing a fullportfolio of clients.

* In depth understanding of UK financial reportingrequirements.
* Well-developed people skills to relate toclients and colleagues.
* Good organisational and time managementskills.
* At least 3 days present in the office each week tosupport colleagues face toface.
